And I would try to cram a couple books in it too, so that has to count for something ;)
xoeErinn T || Fancy Napkinhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06214508249923347904noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2640540060819179935.post-47734637278419867732012-09-29T09:30:09.998-07:002012-09-29T09:30:09.998-07:00Access to information is having a real effect on e...Access to information is having a real effect on education as well. There is less emphasis on retention of information because it is so readily available. Information that we used to memorize and recall is now being forgotten and googled when needed. In that respect, Google is dumbing us down.Ryanhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07998996750944114185noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2640540060819179935.post-85418775594592851282012-09-27T09:47:51.191-07:002012-09-27T09:47:51.191-07:00Once upon a time I had a song lyric stuck in my he...Once upon a time I had a song lyric stuck in my head for 15 months. My friends all insisted I had made it up. 15 months of torture and mental taunting. The vindication I felt when I finally heard the damn lyric was enormous. Kids today will never feel that type of satisfaction.Rose @ Eat, Drink, and Be Meirihttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10321795284708416331noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2640540060819179935.post-88830751921766134622012-09-27T05:55:22.400-07:002012-09-27T05:55:22.400-07:00Your comment about Siri at the end made me smile! ...Your comment about Siri at the end made me smile! I love the ease at which I can find something online. (I wonder about something, and within seconds, I have the answer.) But I also find that I don't retain the information. Nor do I really care about it. (I take it for granted!) Unlike you, I don't long for a more arduous research process, but I worry that kids these days (and me!) don't really value information since it's so readily available. And kids (not so much me) often can differentiate between accurate and inaccurate information or reliable and unreliable sources.

My middle schoolers did one big research project a year, but it seriously needed to be woven into every single unit. It's too valueable a skill and they are operating under such misguided ideas about research. /end rant.*Anonymousnoreply@blogger.com
