Books Make the Best Presents

So I got a few books for Christmas. My family and husband (I guess he's technically family too...) knows me well- ten new novels, a cookbook, Jane Mount's awesome coffee table book, a sewing book, and then a question a day book that spans over five years (more on that later). I feel super lucky. And a little bit anxious about the fact that I'm now up to 59 unread books (49 pre-Christmas, plus ten novels).

  1. I agree - books DO make the best gifts. It took me awhile to finally convince my family that books are a great gift - they seem to think that since I read so much and have so many books, that I wouldn't want to receive any more as gifts.

I just recently bought that same Q&A book and also gave my mom and sister-in-law the same one for Christmas. My plan is to start in the new year!

    1. Me too! It didn't really occur to me that I could start it on any day, but waiting til the first makes sense.

  2. I am so excited because I received a Books-a-Million gift card and an Amazon gift card for Christmas. I can't wait to rack up on books. I LOVE The Handmaid's Tale. One thing I love about your blog is it gives me ideas of good books to read. I will scurry off to goodreads and add some of these books to my to-read list.

  3. I've had the Q&A book for a little over a year and it is really fun to do every year! Some of the questions are silly, but it is still fun to look back on and really weird when you find patterns in your life. For example I found out I ate at the same restaurant two years in a row on the same date.

And nothing makes me more excited than a bunch of new book!

    1. Yeah, some are a little silly, but I look forward to seeing how much my life (hopefully) changes over the next five years.

  4. Despite your giant pile of unread books, do you still pick up books to by when you are out shopping? I had to put back three books at the store today and remind myself that I have plenty at home. Tempting, though, so tempting!*

  6. Ooh, that's a great batch of books you got for Christmas! \o/ I've been meaning to read a bunch of them actually (The Casualty Vacancy, The Handmaid's Tale, The Unlikely Pilgrimage of Harold Fry, Mr. Perumba's 24-hour Bookstore), have fun reading them =D

(Alas, I only got one book for Christmas this year--I reckon my parents thought I had too many books already so they didn't get me any xP)
