Bookish (and not so Bookish) Thoughts

Happy Wednesday! Leave your link in the comments!

1. I have nothing scheduled this weekend. It's a miracle. I'm one part scared, one part excited.

2. Pro tip: If you're making risotto just drive around to all the grocery stores to find arborio rice. I am currently attempting it with short grain brown, and it's taking days. Ugh.

3. I am waiting until next week to use my monthly Audible credit, so I've been listening to Pod Saves America and Launch, which is about a screenwriter working on his first book.  I feel like I'm still looking for the Podcast that makes me get super excited and ready to name drop it to all my friends, but this will get me through until then.

4. Like seriously. Maybe this risotto will be ready for breakfast. If we were texting I'd include several crying emojis.

5. I want a hard-boiled egg cooker. I am trying to incorporate more protein into my diet, and I like hard-boiled eggs but hate making them. This seems like the appropriately lazy compromise.

6. I finished a few quick cross stitch projects in the last week, a cute little gnome and then a Stitch People design that I made of my mom and her husband at their wedding. I have decided that my love-language is weird little cross stitch projects for loved ones.

7. I finished Confessions of an Unlikely Runner the other day and thought it was  a fun, quick read that I could definitely relate to (can I get a "what what" for middle-of-the-pack runners?).

8. I'm too mad at the risotto. I gotta go.

  1. Oh, I had an egg cooker once, back in the 1960s. I'm sure it would seem very lame nowadays. But I also hate boiling the eggs in a pan, and I sometimes forget them until the pan burns dry. LOL

    I wouldn't even try risotto...scary!

  2. For some reason, I keep thinking we are on Thursday, not Wednesday. I'll have to make a note for next week.

Hard-boiled egg cooker sounds cool. Saw a neat egg cooker in the Pampered Chef catalog where you can crack up to four eggs and make scrambled or omelets in it. Might have to buy that to try it out.

I used to cross stitch all the time. Then the girls came along and life has never been the same. :)

    Have fun with the risotto.

  3. Oh that risotto — I have done that and it really does take FOREVER — and then mine didn’t even come good, I hope yours was better in the end. Silly me did it on PURPOSE thinking it was healthier. Never again!

  6. What is a hardboiled egg cooker and how do I get one? Here's my Bookish (And Not So Bookish) Thoughts: https://mirisaspacestation.blogspot.com/2018/01/bookish-and-not-so-bookish-thoughts_25.html

  7. Long-time reader, first-time commenter. Love your blog!

Had to chime in on the hard-boiled egg maker. Finally bit the bullet a year ago and it's my FAVORITE kitchen appliance. It's super tiny so it takes up very little precious cabinet space and it makes hard boiled eggs fool proof. I got this one (based on the reviews) and it's perfect!

  8. Hmm, weird that my comment didn't post *makes note to self never to comment on her phone*

Anyway I hope you have a lovely weekend with all that free time. It's weird but it's great :)

  9. 1. The best kind of weekends.
    2. Yes, absolutely need arborio rice.
    5. Me too, but every time I'm about to go and by it I convince myself it is one of those things you don't actually need.
    6. Excellent. I'm planning on doing some cross stitch this year. Haven't tried it in years, but I used to love it when I was a teenager.
